On the occasion of World Environment Day, Aldebarán Sistemas announced its incorporation into a SCRAP system, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability.
What is SCRAP?
It is a non-profit collective system that allows manufacturers and distributors to jointly manage their product waste. This allows companies to comply with their legal obligations more efficiently and in a coordinated manner.
Origin and regulations
The SCRAP (Collective Systems of Extended Producer Responsibility) system was created with Law 22/2011, which applies the “polluter pays” principle, making producers responsible for the treatment of the waste they generate.
How does it affect Aldebaran on a daily basis?
Our company pays a fee based on the packaging it places on the market. This cost is reflected on invoices, showing customers that we actively contribute to proper waste management.
In our case, the SCRAP System we adhere to is ENVALORA.
In this context, costs vary depending on the volume, type, or hazard of the packaging that Aldebarán Sistemas places on the market.
Likewise, each customer receives on their invoice the amount corresponding to the management of the waste generated by the materials we send them, along with our SCRAP number.
It is important to note that this amount is assumed by Aldebarán Sistemas, which means that the end user is not responsible for the management of said waste.
Furthermore, all customers who handle packaging for which we have already made the corresponding payment have the right to request reimbursement of a portion of the cost from their SCRAP.
Through SCRAP, Aldebarán Sistemas finances proper management of the waste it generates.
Future objectives of SCRAP
The targets vary depending on the type of material and will gradually increase over the coming years, as a guideline:
- By 2025: Recycle at least 65% of packaging.
- By 2030: Reach 70% and up to 85% for paper and cardboard.
Control and audit
SCRAPs conduct periodic audits and are subject to inspections by authorities to verify compliance.
In short, at Aldebarán Systemas, environmental protection is a priority, and we are committed, through SCRAP, to doing our part for a more sustainable future.
